The NFL has no plans to fine Tennessee Titans linebacker Avery Williamson for his custom 9/11 cleats he wore on Sunday … TMZ Sports has learned.
We broke the story … Williamson planned the tribute back in August and had custom cleats made with a patriotic theme and the words, “Never Forget” on the back.
Williamson said he was contacted by a league rep over the cleats and advised not to wear them. Several police organizations and even his coach offered to pay for any potential fines.
But when we asked the NFL if Williamson would be fined, since he ended up wearing them on Sunday — we were told straight-up by a league spokesperson, “No, nothing anticipated.”
As for the cleats, Williamson is auctioning them off with proceeds going to Operation Warrior Wishes.
